
Mr. Christopher Aletia Imana, MSc, MA, MA, BSc. (Hon)
Lead Consultant - Climate Change and Adaptation, Food Security and Livelihoods & Water Governance
Mr. Christopher Aletia has over 25 years of experience in the Humanitarian and development nexus. Christopher, currently, heads the Food Security and Livelihoods component of GIZ targeting the refugees and host communities in Kakuma-Kalobeyei camps in Turkana West. Prior to his current role, he headed various development programs in South Sudan working with World Vision, World Relief, Mercy Corps, USAID, AECOM, MSI, etc. Christopher has held various positions, viz Regional Programme Manager, Programmes Coordinator, Food Security and Livelihoods Manager, Advisor-Climate Change; Livestock Management Systems Advisor, etc.
Mr. Christopher has worked with both National and County Governments in Kenya and he is very conversant with the devolved systems of Government. He has worked as County Minister in the ministries of: – Agriculture, Pastoral Economy, and Fisheries; Water, Environment, and Mineral Resources. Prior to these assignments, Mr. Chris also worked as the Deputy County Secretary- Turkana County Government. Mr. Christopher is also a part-time lecturer (Turkana University College) specializing in Agriculture and Livestock Production. With the County Government, Christopher has had the opportunity of representing the Government in International Missions to countries such as Sweden, The Netherlands, Japan, Ethiopia, Germany, South Africa, etc.
Mr. Christopher is currently a Ph.D. candidate in climate Change and Adaptation (University of Nairobi). He holds three Masters’ degrees: – an MSc (passed with Distinction) in Sustainable Agriculture, from the University of the Free State-Republic of South Africa; a Master’s in development studies, and a master’s in governance and Political Transformation. Mr. Chris also has a BSc in Agriculture (University of Nairobi); besides a postgraduate diploma in Irrigation, Climate Change, Water Governance, and Drylands Agriculture (GIMI, Israel).
