Paul Kaliih,HSC is a Seasoned Public Administrator and a long serving Kenyan Diplomat, with over 36 years of public service. As a Foreign service officer, he has represented Kenya as Deputy Head of Mission in Rome, Italy and Tokyo, Japan as well as serving as Kenya’s Deputy Permanent Representative to UN-FAO,WFP and IFAD and Kenya Mission to UN-HABITAT. At the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Headquarters, he has represented Kenya in many local and in international meetings, Workshops and Conferences.
He joined public service in the Office of The President (Ministry of Interior) as an Assistant Secretary (Cadet) in 1989 after graduating from The University of Nairobi with B.A(Hons) in Political Science and Philosophy. Later he studied for Master of Arts (M.A) in International Relations in the same University. He also holds a Master of Arts (M.A) Degree in Human Development and Food Security from RomaTre University, Italy. He has received a Presidential award, Head of State Commendation (HSC) for distinguished public service.
At certificate level, Mr. Kaliih has undertaken professional courses locally and abroad including: advanced public administration, Performance contracting management, strategic Leadership, Resource Mobilization, Budgeting of HIV /AIDS, Gender studies, Conflict Management, Food security for developing countries, Sustainable Development, Diplomacy, and International partnership among others.
As a District officer, he served in various Districts including, Embu ,Meru, Tharaka- Nithi, Isiolo, Mandera, Murang’a, Nyandarua, Kiambu, Nyeri, Rachuonyo, Migori among others. He has also served as Undersecretary and part-time trainer at Kenya Institute of Administration (Now Kenya School of Government) and NITA. He was alos the Undersecretary, Ministry of Interior-Harambee House (Training & Reforms Unit) before joining Kenya’s Foreign service.
He took voluntary break from Public service at end of 2021 to pursue private consultancy. He is Married with Children.
